Hello,

I wanted to share a small fix in case it helps someone else using CWP / Control Web Panel with AlmaLinux 8.

After checking my server, I noticed that the maldet service was failing.

First, I checked the failed systemd services:
systemctl --failed --no-pager

The output showed:
maldet.service loaded failed failed Linux Malware Detect monitoring - maldet

Then I checked the Maldet service status:
systemctl status maldet -l --no-pager

The first error was:
maldet: {mon} could not find monitor mode dependency 'ed' in PATH, please apt/yum/dnf install ed and try again.

So I installed the missing package:
dnf install -y ed

After that, I tried to restart Maldet:
systemctl restart maldet

But then Maldet showed another missing dependency:
maldet: {mon} could not find inotifywait command, install yum package inotify-tools

So I installed inotify-tools:
dnf install -y inotify-tools

Then I verified that inotifywait existed:
which inotifywait

It returned:
/usr/bin/inotifywait

After that, I restarted Maldet again:
systemctl restart maldet

Then I checked the service status:
systemctl status maldet -l --no-pager

This time Maldet started correctly:
Active: active (running)

The log also showed:
inotify startup successful
inotify monitoring log: /usr/local/maldetect/logs/inotify_log

Finally, I checked failed services again:
systemctl --failed --no-pager

Result:
0 loaded units listed.

So in my case, the fix was simply to install the missing Maldet monitor-mode dependencies:
dnf install -y ed inotify-tools
systemctl restart maldet

This was tested on:
CWP / Control Web Panel
AlmaLinux 8
Linux Malware Detect v1.6.6

I hope this helps someone who sees Maldet failing with one of these errors:
could not find monitor mode dependency 'ed'

or:
could not find inotifywait command

After installing the required packages and restarting Maldet, the service started normally.
